The El Paseo Entertainment Center is the crown jewel in the revitalization efforts of
the City of South Gate, CA. Designed in a festive Mayan theme, the Center consists of
299,702 square feet of net rentable space, with approximately 10 acres of surface parking
and a five-level parking structure, on a 22-acre former brownfield site. The complex is anchored
by a state-of- the-art 20-screen Edwards Luxury Cinema housing 5,500 plush stadium seats.
Additional tenants include a La Curacao department store, Starbucks Coffee, Togo's/Baskin-Robbins,
Panda Express, Krispy Kreme, Footlocker, Stuft Pizza, a Power Station Arcade, Denim Exchange, a
GNC Nutrition Center and several other shopping and dining choices to please any visitor.
The results from the El Paseo Project have been surprising, even to the City of South Gate. The new
Center has proven to be an even greater revenue source than expected. Both the incremental
property and sales tax bases are 2-3 times their originally projected amounts. In addition, the
Center has created over 1,100 new jobs, most of which were filled by local residents.
The project has been a tremendous source of pride for all involved, and a true example of what
can be achieved through creativity, persistence and partnership.
